POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is suited to a senior Keycloak Developer responsible for delivering secure and scalable identity solutions across distributed environments. The position focuses on advanced authentication flows, federation and integration, ensuring modern authentication standards are effectively implemented. It also involves contributing to engineering standards and supporting operational security uplift.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

The client operates within a systems integration services environment, delivering secure, enterprise scale technology solutions. They support complex infrastructure across government or highly regulated sectors, with a strong focus on standardisation, automation and security.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement advanced Keycloak configurations across OIDC, OAuth2, SAML and SSO
• Design and build Keycloak patterns for distributed and multi environment deployments
• Implement federation and integration with identity sources such as LDAP
• Configure token and claims mapping aligned to application requirements
• Implement strong authentication mechanisms including MFA and certificate based authentication
• Contribute to configuration as code practices for versioning and promotion of environments
• Perform peer reviews and uplift engineering standards
• Support defect triage across authentication flows and integrations
• Deliver operational hardening including secure configuration, logging, auditing and backup testing

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• 5 to 8 years experience in IAM or security engineering roles
• 3 plus years hands on experience with Keycloak
• Strong experience implementing OIDC, OAuth2 and or SAML based SSO integrations
• Strong troubleshooting capability across authentication flows, tokens and federation
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience
• Strong technical capability with ability to work with some supervision
• Current Australian Government Baseline security clearance

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• NV1 security clearance or willingness to obtain NV2
• Experience with LDAP federation and identity brokering
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, OpenShift and Helm
• Experience with CI CD pipelines, Git and GitOps practices
• Knowledge of certificate based authentication and mutual TLS
• Experience with logging, monitoring and secure configuration management
• Strong collaboration skills within agile delivery environments
