POSITION OVERVIEW
This role sits within an established technical consulting team in Melbourne, delivering primary transmission and distribution design projects across utilities and renewable energy developments. The position involves leading complex electrical engineering projects from concept through to detailed design, while providing technical oversight, project management and client advisory support. The role also contributes to business development activities and the growth of the wider engineering team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage complex electrical engineering projects across transmission, distribution and renewable energy developments, including BESS, solar and wind farms.
- Provide technical leadership, oversight and direction to engineering teams and act as a technical advisor or owner’s engineer for clients.
- Manage projects to achieve successful commercial outcomes, including scope management, budgeting, scheduling and quality assurance.
- Represent the organisation at internal and external meetings, client engagements and industry forums.
- Contribute to longer-term business strategy and development planning.
- Support business development and bid activities within areas of technical expertise.
- Oversee the performance, development and mentoring of professional engineers, including training and technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and internal quality management systems.
- Monitor and forecast project resources, budgets and schedules, and negotiate agreements with clients and suppliers as required.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
- Minimum 12 years’ relevant industry experience in electrical engineering within a consulting or professional services environment.
- Demonstrated experience delivering transmission and distribution projects, ideally within utilities or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, standards and OH&S requirements.
- Eligibility for chartership and membership (or significant progress towards membership) with Engineers Australia or equivalent professional bodies.
- Proven experience managing engineering projects from concept through to detailed design.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and manage multiple workstreams concurrently.
- Strong leadership capability, including mentoring and developing junior and mid-level engineers.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Experience working on large-scale renewable energy projects, including BESS, solar or wind farms.
- Previous involvement in business development, tendering and bid support.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets and contractual requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and client relationship management skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
