POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is suited to a senior HSM Developer responsible for delivering hardware backed cryptographic solutions. The position focuses on secure key management, automation, and integration across enterprise environments, working closely with technical leadership. It offers the opportunity to lead complex HSM implementations and provide guidance to junior team members.

ABOUT THE CLIENT

The client operates within a systems integration services environment, delivering secure, enterprise scale technology solutions. They support complex infrastructure across government or highly regulated sectors, with a strong focus on standardisation, automation and security.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Implement advanced HSM configurations and security controls
• Develop and maintain HSM automation including key generation, import, export and wrapping workflows
• Enforce policy driven key usage and access controls
• Integrate HSM platforms with PKI and KMS using API based approaches
• Implement and validate cryptographic operations using hardware protected keys
• Support HSM backup, recovery and lifecycle management activities
• Perform peer reviews of HSM configuration and automation
• Support integration of HSM services into CI CD pipelines
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to HSM Analysts

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• 5 to 8 years experience in cryptography, PKI or security engineering roles
• 3 plus years hands on experience with HSM platforms such as Thales Luna, YubiHSM or equivalent
• Strong experience with PKCS 11 and cryptographic APIs
• Solid understanding of FIPS requirements and HSM security models
• Ability to independently deliver complex HSM implementations
• Relevant degree or equivalent practical experience
• Strong technical expertise with ability to work with some supervision
• Current Australian Government Baseline security clearance

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• NV1 security clearance or willingness to obtain NV2
• Experience integrating HSM with PKI and key management platforms
• Knowledge of X.509 certificates and cryptographic standards
• Experience with secure key operations and key wrapping
• Familiarity with enterprise automation and CI CD environments
• Strong collaboration skills within agile delivery teams
