POSITION OVERVIEW
This role will support the delivery of the LAND 8710 program by designing and integrating Army equipment onto maritime platforms. The Outfitting Engineer will ensure systems are safely and effectively installed, meeting naval standards and operating constraints. The position plays a key role in enabling amphibious capability through practical engineering integration and support across design, installation, and testing activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage outfitting designs for equipment, fittings, and infrastructure on maritime platforms
- Ensure outfitting solutions support safe and effective operation of Army capability at sea
- Coordinate integration of mechanical, structural, and auxiliary systems (e.g. mounts, tie-downs, power connections, handling systems)
- Ensure compliance with naval standards, including seaworthiness, safety, and platform constraints such as space and weight
- Collaborate with naval architects, marine engineers, and Defence stakeholders to resolve layout and interface challenges
- Oversee or review installation activities during build or modification phases
- Contribute to engineering design reviews (e.g. PDR/CDR) and ensure outfitting considerations are addressed early
- Support configuration and change management related to physical integration
- Assist with verification, testing, and trial activities, including sea trials and amphibious operations
- Identify and manage integration risks between land equipment and maritime platforms
- Ensure maintainability, accessibility, and human factors considerations are incorporated into designs
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture, or related discipline)
- Experience integrating systems across land and maritime environments
- Experience in design and assessment of equipment mounting, securing systems, and stowage arrangements
- Strong understanding of space, weight, and centre of gravity considerations
- Knowledge of Defence engineering and certification frameworks, preferably within maritime environments
- Strong mechanical and structural design capability, particularly in constrained environments
- Understanding of verification, testing, and trial processes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Current NV1 security clearance
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Experience with configuration management and change control processes
- Experience in amphibious or littoral operational environments
- Exposure to Defence maritime capability programs
- Understanding of integration challenges across joint land and naval systems
