POSITION OVERVIEW
The Deputy Engineering Manager will support the delivery and assurance of technical outcomes for the LAND 8710 program, which integrates land and maritime capabilities. This role provides oversight of systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, ensuring technical integrity, interoperability, and compliance within a complex Defence environment. The position works closely with Defence stakeholders and industry partners to support successful capability delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Engineering Manager in leading engineering activities across the full project lifecycle
- Oversee systems engineering functions, including requirements management, integration, interface control, and verification and validation (V&V)
- Ensure interoperability between Army and Navy systems within joint and maritime operating environments
- Coordinate with Defence stakeholders and industry partners to align technical outcomes and resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with Defence engineering standards, policies, and certification requirements
- Contribute to test planning, trials, and capability acceptance activities
- Support integration of capability into operational environments, including maritime and amphibious contexts
- Contribute to governance activities, including configuration control and engineering design reviews
- Align engineering activities with program schedules, milestones, and delivery objectives
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Maritime, or related discipline)
- Australian Citizenship
- Current NV1 security clearance or ability to obtain
- Experience working within the Department of Defence, ideally across Land and/or Maritime domains
- Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle activities
- Highly developed organisational and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with stakeholders across Defence and industry
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Experience within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) environment
- Exposure to joint capability programs involving both land and maritime systems
- Experience working within marine or maritime engineering environments
- Demonstrated ability to support complex integration and interoperability challenges
- Experience contributing to engineering governance, assurance, and certification activities
