Description
Engineer - Test & Evaluation
As the project’s Test & Evaluation (T&E) subject matter expert, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical integrity and performance outcomes of a major Defence capability. Reporting to the Principal Engineer, you will lead the design, execution, and governance of T&E activities across the system life-cycle.
This is a role for an engineer who thrives on technical depth, stakeholder influence, and the opportunity to set the standard for how T&E is delivered.
Deliverables
What's Involved
• Lead T&E planning, execution, and governance across the system life-cycle, exercising Delegated Technical Authority to ensure technical integrity
• Develop and maintain high‑quality engineering documentation aligned with Defence legislation, policy, and standards
• Provide expert T&E advice to guide capability decisions, risk posture, and system performance outcomes
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct verification and validation activities, analysing complex data to deliver clear, evidence‑based insights
• Engage and coordinate with Defence and industry stakeholders to ensure requirement clarity, technical alignment, and integrated delivery
• Strengthen organisational T&E maturity by mentoring team members and collaborating with T&E Accountable Units on capability and risk evaluation procedures
Who we’re Looking For:
You’re an engineer with deep T&E expertise, strong stakeholder influence, and the ability to operate confidently in complex Defence environments. You excel at navigating multidisciplinary teams, applying structured engineering judgement, and driving clarity in high‑stakes technical decisions.
Curiosity, critical thinking, and disciplined execution are core to how you work.
Desired requirements:
• Degree qualifications in Systems Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience in aviation, aerospace, defence, or other complex systems engineering environments
• Proven experience applying CASG QMS‑Risk Management policy, manuals, instructions, and processes
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear, actionable insights
• A process‑driven mindset with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to engineering precision
• Proven ability to assess and prioritise activities using risk‑based decision‑making
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a natural curiosity for understanding system behaviour and root causes
• Experience working with verification, validation, certification, and compliance frameworks
• Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, safety, and project teams, influencing
outcomes without relying on formal authority
• Commitment to producing clear, defensible, audit‑ready documentation
• Adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset, always seeking smarter and more efficient ways to deliver T&E outcomes
Essential Requirements:
• Positive Vetting (PV) Security Clearance
• Ability to operate within CASG 2.0, ERP, and DSR‑aligned environments
• Willingness to work within a joint Commonwealth–MSP team structure
